Can I tell you something embarrassing? I rewrote my LinkedIn bio more times than I can count. Seven times or was it ten? Maybe more because I lost count. Each version felt almost right but not quite. Each iteration felt too much of one thing and not enough of another. If you’ve ever felt that way, I want to tell you it’s not because you’re bad at writing. It’s because most advice on how to write a bio or About section for LinkedIn is geared toward people with Linear Careers. And we don’t fit that box. Here’s what I’ve noticed: The way you write your bio either sets you free or quietly shrinks you. A bio written the conventional way, with job title, industry, and a few credentials, does its job. It tells people what you do. But for multi-passionate professionals building something non-linear, that format becomes suffocating. The more specific you get, the more you accidentally close doors to other aspects of yourself.
